West Side Story Group
Our most recent meeting was held at Christ Memorial Church during which we finalized our budget for 2018 and made some plans for the remainder of the year. Over the summer we hope to host a pastors dinner (date and location to be determined) and an Elders Breakfast (July 22, location to be determined).
We are supporting a visit of Robert P. Jones to address some of the points made in his book “The End of White Christian America.” We plan to do this before our next Presbytery meeting in order that discussions on race and justice may continue to be our focus.
We distributed cards on which folk wrote suggestions for our 2018 program and these will be discussed at our next steering committee.
Following the meeting a number of those present joined with folk from Christ Memorial for their “Rise Against Hunger” event. Around 20,000 meals were packaged.
Any budget requests for funding need to be with the Steering Committee by September 8 if they are to be considered as coming from this years budget. At our meeting on Saturday October 21st we will celebrate the many different projects we have been able to support this year.
