Our Faith in Action ministries encompass various community service ministries of CMPC.
The program provides many opportunities for people to serve God by serving the poor,
the needy, and the prisoner in the community.
The Faith in Action community ministries include mission groups that are committed
to a particular form of personal active witness through service to the community. One can participate
by calling the contact for the particular ministry or by responding to events that are announced in the
CMPC bulletin, newsletter, or from other announcements. There are opportunities for ALL to
participation in various mission projects – from one-time opportunities to weekly service.
CMPC HOUSING MINISTRY
The Housing Ministry participates with various programs to serve the homeless and provide affordable housing in Howard County and the Baltimore area.
CMPC participates with Chesapeake Habitat for Humanity in restoring vitality to Baltimore neighborhoods and rebuilding housing that is purchased by people with low incomes.
CMPC provides support for temporary furniture storage, so that Congregations Concerned for the Homeless (CCH) can provide transitional housing in Howard County.
CMPC hosts the Howard County Cold Weather Shelter (CWS) for homeless individuals each year. The mission team opportunities to serve include:

CMPC FAMILY NEEDS MINISTRY
The Family Needs Ministry participates in the work of Christian Services of Howard County (CSHC).
CSHC serves the poor and others in need in Howard County by providing low cost quality clothing and household items at
The Christian Women’s Thrift Shop. During emergencies, families in need can also receive financial assistance,
food, clothing, and furniture. CMPC is one of the CSHC founding churches and provides substantial financial support for CSHC,
as well as donations from our members of food, clothing and household items. Opportunities to serve at CSHC include:
- Weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays – sorting of clothing and other tasks at the thrift shop;
- 2nd and 4th Saturdays – same tasks, plus organizing furniture, and doing additional work in the thrift shop;
- Help organize and/or transport CMPC donations and delivery.

CMPC PRISON MINISTRY
|
The Prison Ministry participates through the Community of St. Dysmas in programs at the Maryland Correctional Institutes
near Jessup and Hagerstown, Maryland. The ministries include Bible studies, participation in worship, and providing gifts, support to inmates
and their families, mentoring counseling, and financial support to the missions. Participation in some activities requires advanced approval
(about three weeks) to enter the prison. The Prison Ministry team participates in following programs.
- The Community of St. Dysmas, an ecumenical mission to the Maryland Correctional Institutes in Jessup and Hagerstown areas;
- St. Dysmas also includes the Maryland Correctional Institute for Women, Jessup. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America sponsors both.
